Description: 6ft1 tall, with black hair and green
eyes, Alan Rayne is an imposing figure. He is always in control and seems to
project an aura of icy calm. A bit of a loner, Alan dislikes taking orders,
but has no trouble giving them. He is a major enigma, as only HERMES, out of
all the computer systems in the world, has any information on him. It is not
even certain if Alan Rayne is his real name. He has a multitude of concealed
weapons and is an expert at getting into places that he shouldn't be, if backed
up by a competent hacker and a good getaway driver. Have fun!

Notes: This guy is a bit good in combat, but lost
during the more subtle aspects of AEGIS work, eg surveillance or research. In

full head of hair, he is most often seen wearing a long brown overcoat, with
a slightly shabby grey suit on underneath. He is obviously of Italian ancestry,
but is 100% american. He operates mainly on the border between the US and Canada.

Notes: Sometimes during the course of a mission,
especially in area's of high activity, a Aegis cell may need to use the resources,
or work with another group, and the Hermes system may not be enough to properly
convey the specifics, and organize situations. Also when cells are working on
overlapping cases in a certain area, they may not be checking for already taken
current cases on the system, causing possible conflicts.
To avoid this Aegis prime specified a small group of trusted (even more than
normal), high willpower, psychic agents, to work as connections between cells.
The number of these "intermediaries" is small, and their location
depends mainly on Aegis, Book and *other* activity, and the number of cells
in the area. They are accessible though Hermes, and should a cell be in one
of the above situations, they will either contact the cells involved, or the
cell will contact them. Part of their duties also include very close links to
Aegis prime, and they will monitor any suspicious activity detected in a cell.
There importance means they have access to a wide variety of resources, and
are effectively one man cells.
However, they have information that could be seriously damaging if captured
by any opposing forces. To avoid this each intermediary is psychically scanned
for any conscious or unconscious influences, by Aegis teams specially trained
in it, and then they are psychically conditioning so that in the event of their
capture, there own psychic powers will be used to terminate themselves beyond
any chance of resuscitation.
They will are shadowy, powerful figures, one of the few Aegis "employee's"
that the cell members may meet, and for a DM, they are excellent for all manner
of game introductions, and steering. There professions are often neglected to
a degree as they move further into the conspiracy. Jason Lorn is a typical Intermediary.

Background: Jason is a recent inductee into the
Royal Cryptozoological Society, and an even more recent inductee into the ranks
of Aegis. He joined the unfortunate cell a year ago to fill a much needed role
during an investigation of the Pine Barrens in New Jersey. A typical product
of his class and family back in the UK, he is well traveled and knows quite
a bit about other cultures...possibly where he found his interest in cryptozoology.
Profile: Jason is a perpetually curious, and sometimes
gullible young man who was recently inducted into the RCS. His nature often
annoyed his cell mates and sometimes put him at odds with them. Jason was trained
in the best private schools and had been taught about biology, and zoology in
general. In his travels, he has taught himself Swahili in addition to French,
which he taught in his child hood. He is a very smart person, but more than
often, his desire to believe overcomes his good judgment. Unfortunately, in
his last mission which wiped out the rest of his cell, he became extremely jumpy
and began to have flashbacks of the horrible moments he experienced, yet he
cannot remember all that happened, save that he awoke in a watery basement,
his comrades mutilated all around him. Now, he has become a loner, detached
and inquisitive about what really happened. Sometimes he has a better grip of
reality than others, and only partially remembers his allegiance to Aegis.
