Blanford p139. Each Corps, Division, Brigade had its own 'designating flag' intended to mark the HQ in a formation.
Army of the Potomac p29: General Order March 1862. Each division had a 6' x 5' flag, red for each 1st Division, blue for each 2nd Division and red and blue for each 3rd Division.
Blanford p140: saddle bags often dark blue with broad orange stripe near the edge; grey blankets with yellow trim common. Canvas nosebag, rolled overcoat, blanket, 2 black leather saddlebags, lariat.
ACW Flags Union p13: general hospital flags were yellow, with a large green Roman letter H in the field.
