ARRESTS AND STUFF

These are unofficial notes for "Conspiracy X", but could be adapted for other systems.

First, determine the priority of the crime; then determine the outcome of the Preliminary Trial, and finally, The Trial. Remember, ConX's "Aegis Handbook" has notes on this topic, and various strings that can be pulled to get PC's off the hook.

Priority 1

  • Corporate manslaughter/murder (fine $1,000, 10-20 years, death)
  • Espionage (10-20 years, death)
  • Mass murder (20+ years, death)
  • Terrorism (20+ years, death)
  • Trafficking type A drugs (15-20 years)

Priority 2

  • Counterfeiting (6-15 years)
  • Environmental laws (fine $500+, 0-3 years)
  • Kidnapping (5-20 years)
  • Manslaughter (5-10 years)
  • Murder 1; intentional/premeditated (20+ years, death)
  • Murder 2; intentional/not premeditated (5-20 years)
  • Trafficking type B drugs (3-12 years)

Priority 3

  • Aggravated assault (1-7 years)
  • Armed robbery (4-15 years)
  • Extortion (1-15 years)
  • Gambling without a permit (fine $500+, 0-1 year)
  • Trafficking type C drugs (1-10 years)

Priority 4

  • Arson (1-20 years)
  • Assault (1-7 months)
  • Bribery of a law officer (1-6 months)
  • Embezzlement (1-20 years)
  • Grand larceny; theft not robbery (1-20 years)
  • Rape (1-15 years)
  • Rioting (1 month - 1 year)
  • Robbery; theft from an individual (1-20 years)

Priority 5

  • Auto theft (1-7 years)
  • Burglary (1-6 years)
  • Fraud (1-20 years)
  • Vice (fine $50-2000, 1 week- 2 years)
  • Weapon offences (fine $100-1000, and/or 1 month-10 years)

Priority 6

  • Handling stolen goods (fine $50+, 1 month-1 year)
  • Disorderly conduct (up to 1 week)
  • Hacking (fine $50+, 0-5 years)
  • Larceny; theft of less than $50 (1-10 years)
  • Liquor laws (fine $20-100)
  • Obstruction of justice (1 month - 1 year)
  • Traffic offences (fine $20-1200, 0-3 years)

Preliminary Hearing

Priority 5 & 6: Preliminary Hearing within 48 hours, where bail is set or trial is declared void (if case is Very weak or Weak, roll as if at trial; if successful, case is voided).

Priority 3 & 4: Preliminary Hearing within 7 days, where bail is set.

Priority 1 & 2: Preliminary Hearing within 14 days, where bail is set.

For bail to be refused the PC must fail an Influence test, difficulty depends on evidence. Very weak case: 1. Weak case: 2. Average case: 3. Strong case: 4. Very strong case: 5.

The Trial

Trials occur 1d6 months after the Preliminary Hearing.

Roll on Influence, difficulty depends on evidence. Very weak case: 1. Weak case: 2. Average case: 3. Strong case: 4. Very strong case: 5.
